Testimonials

Now that the immediate aftermath of the sad passing of my sister Hazel is over, it is time to express our heartfelt thanks to you all. My wife and I were not able to visit Hazel often as we live away from Newcastle. However, whenever we did we always witnessed genuine care and dedication from all of the staff – not only for Hazel but for all of the residents of St Stephens.

I don’t need to tell you that many of the residents of St Stephens have extremely challenging medical and psychological conditions. Having previously had no experience of this type of environment we quickly became aware that the level of care required is complex, demanding and requiring of personal dedication from the carers and nursing staff – we witnessed this in spades.

I must confess that my expectations of ‘carers’ had been previously coloured by the bad press which we have all seen lately. However, based on our experience of the compassionate, kind, caring and dedication which we have witnessed at St Stephens I can only say this perception is so wrong.

It cannot be easy caring for such challenging conditions day in and day out but you do it all with a smile on your faces and an apparent effortless patience.

I am glad that if Hazel had to be anywhere in the last few years of her life it should have been at St Stephens.

Lastly, I am eternally grateful for the way you have welcomed my Mam on an almost daily basis. I cannot tell you enough how much of a comfort it has been for Mam to be able to be with Hazel so frequently. As importantly, Mam regards you as personal friends and she will no doubt come to visit her friends in the months to come.

Once again a huge thank you to you all from me and all of my family for making Hazel’s last few years as good as they could have been.

A very big and heartfelt thanks to staff and carers at St Stephen’s Court for all your care and love for Hazel.
